A fun-loving French bulldog from Nashville and a muffin-slaying cat from Maine prevailed as top dog and first feline, respectively, in Nationwide’s® Wacky Pet Names contest. Congratulations to Dr. Potato Head and Pickles McButterpants the Muffin Slayer for capturing the craziest name crowns.
Each year, the nation’s pet health protection leader recognizes the most imaginative and unique names among its roster of four-legged members. After a lengthy look at the company’s database of more than 1.1 million insured pets, the top 10 wackiest dog and cat names were put to a public vote that ran April 4-9.
“Our Wacky Pet Names competition is a light-hearted way to recognize the thoughtfulness and creativity of pet parents,” said Heidi Sirota, chief pet officer for Nationwide. “Every name – wacky or not – speaks to a pet’s special place in the family and we’re proud that we’re trusted to help protect them all.”
To commemorate their wins, the pet parents of Dr. Potato Head and Pickles McButterpants the Muffin Slayer will each receive a grand prize consisting of the following:
- A custom canvas portrait of their pet
- A one-year subscription for monthly delivery of pet toys & treats
- A $100 reward card redeemable for gift cards from some of the nation’s top retailers
