“When we got Pork N’ Beans at around 7 weeks of age, we couldn’t get over how small and perfect he was—he looked like a little bean!” says Nationwide member Glory B. “Our two other piglets had meat themed names—Pepperoni and Maple Bacon—so we were trying to figure out what to name this little one that would be on theme. We landed on Pork N’ Beans!
“The other piglet we brought home looked like a little peanut, so she got the name Peanut Patty. Together, she and Pork N’ Beans are ‘the legumes,’” Glory adds.
When it comes to wackiness, piglets are top notch. But even by those standards, Pork N’ Beans stands out. “Lately, we’ve realized how crazy smart our little porkling is,” Glory says. “He recently opened our overhead garage door, and him and Maple Bacon went on a little trip around the neighborhood. Thankfully, they were safe and came right back when they heard me calling them." Since then, Pork N' Beans's penchant for mischief has kept Glory busy: "There's a lot of 'Bean-proofing' we've been working on," she laughs.
“When we first got piglets, I got them insurance right away,” Glory says. “I honestly wasn’t sure if it was worth it.” However, after an illness sent two of her piggies to the veterinarian, Glory was glad she got them protected. “It gives us lots of peace of mind to know that they are protected by Nationwide so that we don’t have to worry as much about financials if they need care.”
