The good things in life take time. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and pickles need to chill in a brine to reach optimal crispy, crunchy delight. Likewise, a good pet name waits until the right moment. Case in point—or should we say pickle in jar?—a two-tone standard poodle named Uncle Pickles, whose deliciously wacky moniker started marinating many years before it connected with the right pup.
“When my husband and I were dating, we overheard someone saying, ‘Uncle Pickles’ and thought it would be a hilarious dog name,” says Nationwide member Kelly W. “Five years later, we adopted him.”
It’s no surprise that Uncle Pickles is a wacky dog warranting his moniker. For example, his weird sounds—which, arguably, are his most uncle-like quality. “He sounds like Chewbacca when he gets belly rubs,” Kelly says.
