Greyhound parents know that adopting a racing dog is a surefire way to make a fast friend. However, thanks to some quick and wacky thinking, this pet family made fast friends … with a dino-doggy.
“Iggasaurus Rex is a 2-year-old former racing greyhound who came to us from Australia,” says Nationwide member Laura G. “Her racing name was ‘Iggy Dust,’ and each time we called her Iggy she responded so well.” However, not everyone was fully on board with Iggy’s original name. “Our 8-year-old daughter did not enjoy the name Iggy,” Laura continues. “So, in an attempt to appease the small child with our new family member's name, we came up with Iggasaurus Rex as her formal name, and we would use Iggy as her nickname.”
The uniqueness of their new pet was befitting her wacky new name. Laura says, “She definitely lives up to her name, and we think of her little mouth chatters—the greyhound sign of joy—as her roar!”
She continues, “Once a day she gets her greyhound zoomies, and will run in a circle at top speed and does all kinds of goofy bouncing around and playing.” To be ready for unexpected zoomie-related accidents, Laura got Nationwide pet insurance. “We wanted to make sure that anything life threw at Iggy that she would be well taken care of.”
