When Nationwide members Lucas and Remy first brought home their new Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever, her name—Allie—was much, much less wacky. To find the perfect match for their silly lil’ dog, they reached into their dogsitting experience.
“We’ve discovered that dogs very readily respond to rhyming names,” Lucas and Remy say. “When we were riffing on things that rhyme with Allie, this was nearly exactly the conversation: ‘Dilly dally… Tally. Dilly Dally Tally! Oh my god, it's so cute—that's her name! We can't overthink it!’” Tally immediately picked up her new name—which was also befitting her personality. “It turns out that she loves to dilly dally,” Lucas and Remy say. “So, it was a great fit all around.”
The speed at which she walks is fitting her name, but that’s not the only wacky thing she does. “Tally loves to use furniture to be as high off the ground as she can be,” they add. “She always seems to be playing ‘floor is lava.’”
When it comes to pet parenting, this isn’t the couple’s first dilly dally around the block—or pet insurance. In fact, Lucas has been happy with Nationwide for nearly 15 years. “We continue to be happy customers!” Lucas and Remy report.
