“Angry Potato was found all alone in a warehouse during 20-degree weather,” says Nationwide member Kara L. “He was only 8-10 weeks old and so lethargic from the cold he could barely lift his head. I rushed him to our vet, where he was put in the incubator for warming. He looked like a Russet potato under a heat lamp, so that part of his name came easily.
“During his long recovery, Potato was quarantined in our bathroom,” Kara continues. “Before his balance improved and he mastered the litter box, he needed baths. A LOT of baths. A wet, furious kitten glared at me during each and every one. He was clearly an Angry Potato!”
There’s more to this little orange kitty’s wackiness than just a name—his way of walking is also quite unique: “Angry Potato has neurological issues of undetermined origin,” Kara says. “His back end doesn't coordinate with his front end and often gets away from him. Despite wiggling as he walks, he enjoys chasing his sister, Captain Hissy Pants, though the house. His neurological issues make his jumps more akin to a bucking bronco than a svelte cougar.
“We have protected our kitties—twelve at last count!—with Nationwide pet insurance since 2017,” Kara says. “Nationwide provides exemplary customer service and excellent coverage at terrific rates. Most importantly, though, Nationwide provides peace of mind.”
