VPI Raises $10,000 for the Animal Cancer Foundation at the Second Annual Denver K9K
Washington Park was jam-packed with pet owners and their furry, four-legged friends as nearly two hundred people came out for the second annual Denver VPI K9K Pet Cancer Awareness Walk on Sunday, June 10. VPI Pet Insurance hosted the 3K (1.8 miles) walk and raised more than $10,000 to benefit the Animal Cancer Foundation (ACF), a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for cancer by funding research in comparative oncology, the study of naturally occurring cancers in pets and people. VPI has now raised more than $108,000 to benefit the ACF.
Colorado Congressman Mike Coffman was among the participants at the event. His group walked in honor of his dog, Buckley, whom he recently lost to cancer. Last year, VPI received nearly 50,000 claims for cancer diagnosis and treatment in pets – the number one disease-related killer of dogs and cats.
VPI will continue its promotion of pet cancer awareness and research later this year as it hosts a second K9K Pet Cancer Awareness Walk on Nov. 11 in Long Beach, Calif. Click here for more information about the event.
