VPI Partners with Veterinary Care Foundation to Award the Hambone Winning Hospital with $10,000

Expect the competition for the fifth annual VPI Hambone Award® to reach an all-time high this year as VPI partners with the Veterinary Care Foundation (VCF) to put $10,000 on the line.

That’s right; the animal hospital that treated this year’s VPI Hambone Award® Winner will receive a $10,000 VPI-funded award through the VCF to treat pets whose owners could not otherwise afford treatment.

“The Veterinary Care Foundation is pleased to be partnering with VPI in presenting the 2013 Hambone Award,” said Richard Heysek, Executive Director, Veterinary Care Foundation. “Like VPI, VCF is focused on helping pets through its charitable network of over 200 veterinary practices throughout the country. The VPI Hambone Award® calls attention to interesting and usual pet stories, which help educate the public about the unexpected mishaps that can affect household pets.”

Nominees for the fifth annual VPI Hambone award include a Labrador retriever that was broadsided by a neighbors exuberant goat, a pooch that was treated for potential onion poisoning after munching on a two-pound bag of frozen onion rings, and a cat that got trapped underneath her owners’ garage door. All 11 nominees’ stories are highlighted on VPIHamboneAward.

With $10,000 going to the animal hospital that treated the 2013 VPI Hambone Award® Winner, the contest is likely to get more heated than ever. What are you waiting for? Visit VPIHamboneAward and place your vote for the 2013 VPI Hambone Award®!
