K9 Kondor Visits VPI
Veterinary Pet Insurance associates received a treat this afternoon when K9 Kondor and Officer Boyington of the Buena Park Police Department made a visit to the company’s Brea, Calif., headquarters. With VPI associates looking on, Kondor and Officer Boyington explained the work of a police dog and handler.
Kondor was less than two years old when he first teamed up with Officer Boyington, a young age for a future K9. After waiting five months, Officer Boyington began training Kondor and continues to train him every night to help better serve and protect the community. Some of the jobs canine dogs perform include:
- Street patrol
- Narcotics detection
- Explosive detection
- Search-and-rescue
Kondor wore a bullet/stab-proof vest that was recently donated to him by VPI’s Employee Contribution Committee. The donation was made possible through Vested Interest in K-9s, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing protective vests for police dogs across the nation.
