It’s Not All Fun and Games When Your Dog Discovers the Wii

Is there anything policyholder Katy Young’s Black Mouth Cur/Catahoula Mix won’t eat?!

Our Black Mouth Cur/Catahoula Mix, Ember, is just over 5 months old, weighs 42 pounds, and has a very sneaky and energetic personality! She likes to chew, especially when her tummy is upset. Over the 4 months we have had her, she has gotten into and chewed many random household items. Just when we thought we had puppy-proofed the house the best we could, Ember ate a Wii game! I’m sure you are thinking, “Well, that is what you get for leaving your Wii game out where she could find it.” But that was far from the case. She managed to overcome the spiky floor mat separating her from the TV stand. When she pushed the eject button on the Wii (we assume with her nose) she found that the little white box ejected “treats” just for her! Luckily she didn’t ingest any Mario; just left it out of commission for mommy and daddy. If only that was our best story…

About 3 days later, Ember’s tummy was upset, and as she was locked in the kitchen (to keep the mess on the tile, not the carpet). She found a little backpack on the counter, which she proceeded to get down and eat half of! Also in her search for something to calm her tummy (ha!) she found a banana. This is how I know we have a skilled puppy – she peeled the banana and then chose to eat the peel! That’s right – she left the completely peeled banana lying on the floor.

We weren’t so lucky this time, because these “treats” had to be removed from her stomach by our veterinarian, which cost mommy and daddy quite a bit of money! Thankfully we have VPI to help us cover those costs!
