VPI’s Pet Cancer Awareness Campaign
A Coast-to-Coast Education and Fund-Raising Effort
In 2009, VPI received more than 30,000 claims for treatment of cancer—the No. 1 disease-related killer of dogs and cats. Fortunately, early detection and treatment of cancer in pets can prolong life and increase chances of survival. To promote pet cancer awareness and research, VPI hosts two philanthropic K9K Pet Cancer Awareness Walks each year. Hundreds of pet owners joined VPI last year in Long Beach, Calif., and Brooklyn, N.Y., to raise funds for pet cancer research. Together, the East Coast and West Coast VPI K9K Pet Cancer Awareness Walks raised more than $15,000 for the Animal Cancer Foundation (ACF), a non-profit organization that strives to advance the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer in pets and people.
The Second Annual East Coast VPI K9K Pet Cancer Awareness Walk – April 25, 2010
This year, VPI will hold its 2nd annual East Coast K9K Pet Cancer Awareness Walk in conjunction with national Pet Parent's Day®! Pet Parents Day is a day set aside to acknowledge all the hard work and love that goes into raising happy, healthy pets. Come join us as we pay tribute to pet parents and walk to raise funds for pet cancer research. The 4-kilometer walk across the historic Brooklyn Bridge begins at Cadman Plaza Park in Brooklyn and treats participants to breathtaking views of New York landmarks.
