Marcopolo

According to Geralyn Le Donne of Glassboro, NJ, it was important to her family as Italian Americans to pick a strong Italian name for their Labrador retriever. After searching for the perfect combination of unique and fitting for their inquisitive pup, the Le Donnes found inspiration from Italian adventurer Marco Polo. As his pet parent explained, the Le Donne’s yellow Lab has lived up to his name in almost every way.

“Marcopolo is such an explorer,” said Geralyn. “The name felt appropriate for him, especially when he was younger. Even in his old age, Marcopolo will run around at the park sniffing trees, always looking for something new and exciting.” Geralyn joked that there is only one way that their lovable Lab hasn’t fully embraced the name, “We always hoped that he would respond with ‘Polo’ when we called out ‘Marco.’ It never happened, but that’s OK.”

The Le Donnes agree that Marcopolo is an invaluable part of their family. “He is very special to us,” said Geralyn. “Having VPI Pet Insurance for Marcopolo, we’ve never hesitated to do whatever was best for his health.
