Fuglee

When Stephany Callahan decided she wanted a cat, she only had one major obstacle: her boyfriend was allergic. After doing some research she determined that a sphinx, a virtually hairless breed, would be a perfect compromise. "Prior to getting our cat, my boyfriend and I looked at hundreds of photos of available sphynx online," said Stephany. "I hate to admit it, but some were so ugly that the decision of 'Fuglee' was made before we even found one to adopt."

According to Stephany, there is truth to the expression "a face only a mother could love," and she was smitten with Fuglee from the moment they met. Stephany believes that, if she would've waited until she met him to choose a name, Fuglee probably would have been a "Yoda" or "Wrinkles" instead. "Of course I don't think he's ugly at all! When I look at Fuglee, I think he's so handsome," said Stephany. "But everyone tells me I picked the perfect name for him."

Buying pet insurance was a must for Stephany because she had seen her sister endure hefty expenses with her new pet. "When my sister's dog was a puppy, he caught a stick in his throat while he was playing outside," said Stephany. "He was completely fine after having surgery, but the procedure cost $5,000. I decided that with Fuglee, I would much rather be safe than sorry."
