According to the American Veterinary Dental Society, 80 percent of dogs show signs of oral disease by age three. But just because you get your pooch vaccinated doesn’t mean you’re off the hook when it comes to regular teeth cleanings and brushing.
The vaccine is meant to be used as part of a total oral health care regimen to prevent not only bad breath, but numerous other problems associated with an unhealthy mouth, like liver and heart disease. Ask your veterinarian if the vaccine is right for your dog.
Benefits are available for the dental vaccine under VPI’s Pet WellCare Protection Core and Premier riders.
