Ellie’s Missing Chew Toys
Ellie’s Emergency Survival Story
Last Christmas, some friends of ours gave us a couple chew toys for our Labradors, Ellie and Meme. After a few days, the chew toys disappeared and we thought the dogs had simply lost them in the yard. Then we noticed that Ellie didn’t look so good. She wasn’t eating or going to the bathroom.
We took her to the vet and, after a barium test, he decided she was going to need surgery. Well, pretty soon we found out what happened to the chew toys!
The surgery ended up costing $1,265.91. We told our friends, “Wow, a $1,300 chew toy, what a great Christmas gift!
”
We submitted the claim to VPI and we were pleasantly surprised when we got our reimbursement check: $1035.82. I’ve been a policyholder for a while, but I’ve never been so thankful for VPI. Everything was easy and the money back was greatly appreciated. Thank you, VPI!

**The benefit allowance amount replenishes with each new incident or with each new annual policy renewal, depending on the policy type selected. An incident is a new condition that causes you to consult a veterinarian. Chronic or ongoing conditions, such as allergic dermatitis, are considered to be one incident no matter how many times a veterinarian is consulted.
†VPI pays 90% of covered veterinary expenses up to the benefit schedule allowance, or 90% of your covered invoice amount, whichever is less, minus your $50 per-incident deductible.
