Making the Most of Your Claim

Confused About How to File a Claim?

Follow these simple tips to ensure more efficient processing.

  1. Have your veterinarian or hospital representative help you fill in the diagnosis on Section 2 of your claim form.
  2. Include all itemized receipts/invoices. Please be sure they include your pet’s name and are legible!
  3. Mail or fax your claim form to VPI Pet Insurance

  • List the medical condition that your pet was diagnosed with rather than the symptoms he was experiencing. For example, instead of listing symptoms like itching, limping or coughing, you should list the condition for which your pet was treated, such as allergies, sprain or pneumonia.
  • Submit your pet’s medical records with your first medical claim. Medical records provide us with a complete history for your pet, which allows us to process your claim accurately.
  • Use only one claim form per pet. If you have multiple pets insured with us and you take them to the veterinarian on the same day, be sure to submit separate claims for each pet.
  • If you fax your claim, please allow approximately 48 hours for it to be visible in our system. We will send you a courtesy e-mail or contact you via telephone to advise you when your claim has been entered into our system for processing. You can also check on the status of your claim by logging on to the VPI Policyholder Portal at my.petinsurance.com.
